Sustainability
Our commitment to responsible tourism
What sustainability means to us
For Terrace Sunset Homes, sustainability is not just about respecting the environment, but also supporting the local economy and the social well-being of the community in which we live.
We believe that sustainability is not a destination, but an ever-evolving journey, made up of information, awareness, and good practices that, day after day, become concrete and shared habits.
Our commitment is simple: to combine comfort, authenticity, and responsibility to give you an unforgettable stay that respects the place you are visiting and the people who live there.
Our daily commitment
1. Energy saving and attention to resources
Every gesture counts when it comes to respecting the environment. In our homes, we’ve chosen to install high-efficiency appliances that consume less energy while guaranteeing the same performance. All our lights are LED or energy-efficient, significantly reducing electricity consumption without sacrificing proper lighting.
We’ve equipped the house with power strips to avoid standby power consumption: those small, invisible consumptions that, when added up over time, impact the environment and your energy bill. Thanks to home automation systems, we can intelligently control our systems, optimizing energy use. Even the domestic hot water boiler is set to 45°C, the ideal temperature for comfort while reducing energy waste.
2. Water: a precious resource that should not be wasted
Water is a precious resource, and we treat it with the respect it deserves. In Campagnano, we’re fortunate to have tap water that flows directly from the mountain: it’s delicious, fresh, and safe. That’s why we encourage you to drink it by providing glass bottles and a map of the town’s water tanks. This small gesture reduces plastic consumption and lets you discover the quality of mountain water. In the bathrooms, we’ve installed dual-button flush tanks, allowing you to choose the amount of water you need for each use. It may seem like a small detail, but over the course of a year, this system saves thousands of liters of water.
3. Less waste, more responsibility
Waste management is one of the most important aspects of sustainability. We have organized waste sorting in a clear and functional way, providing detailed instructions and separate containers to facilitate proper waste separation. We care deeply about this aspect and kindly ask you to contribute to the well-being of the planet by following the guidelines you will find at home.
We have chosen to avoid disposable products, favoring instead loose products or durable goods. Linens—sheets and towels—are changed only for long stays or upon your specific request. Towels can be used multiple times without any problems, just as you would at home. This choice significantly reduces the consumption of water, energy, and detergents needed for washing.
4. The territory and its people at the centre
For us, sustainability also means promoting the local area and its residents. Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted with a special gift: a 250ml jar of locally sourced honey produced by a local company. It’s more than just a gift; it’s a small taste of the authentic flavors of the Veddasca Valley and a way to support those who work this land with passion.
Choosing local collaborators means creating job opportunities for those who live here and strengthening ties with the community. Angela, who takes care of the house, is part of this community and truly knows and loves this place.
We collaborate with local tourism operators to offer you authentic experiences: guided excursions, outdoor activities, and itineraries to discover the local food and wine specialties. Each experience supports the local economy and allows you to discover the true soul of these places, far from the standardized tourist circuits.
Proudly part of Love Sustainability!
Love Sustainability is an initiative created to promote more conscious tourism, respectful of the environment, people, and local communities.
Supported by partners such as Airbnb, LifeGate, and other organizations committed to sustainability, it targets accommodations that wish to adopt best practices to reduce their environmental impact and enhance local communities.
Being part of this project means making a concrete commitment, measuring your impact, and constantly improving your practices for a tourism that benefits everyone: guests, the region, and the community.
